Email - QLD Bar Email Setup

Set up your Queensland Bar email in a mail client (Outlook or Mac Mail)

Web access to Hosted Barweb Emails is now at  https://bwhostedex01.barweb.com.au/owa 

Set up BarWeb Hosted Exchange in Outlook 2007/2010
1. Click on File > Account Settings > Account Settings...
2. Click New to add an email address to Outlook.

Choose E-mail Account as the new service, and click Next. If you are prompted with an Auto Account Setup window, select Manually configure server settings or additional server types and select Next to continue.

On the Choose Service window, select Microsoft Exchange or compatible service and click Next.

Fill in your settings as per below:

Server: bw-hostedex-01
  Ensure that "Use Cached Exchange Mode" is checked
User Name: The first part of your email address (e.g. a.barrister)

 

Click "More Settings..." to continue.

Under the "Connection' tab, ensure that "Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP" is checked.
Then click on "Exchange proxy Settings..."

Under the "Connection settings" enter the following:

https:// bwhostedex01.barweb.com.au
 

Ensure that "Only connect to proxy servers that have this principal name in their certificate" is checked and enter: msstd:bwhostedex01.barweb.com.au
  Ensure that both "On fast and On slow networks, connect using HTTP first, then connect using TCP/IP" are checked.

Under the "Proxy authentication settings" ensure that "Basic Authentication" is selected.

Click OK then Next, you will then be asked to enter your credentials...

Click OK and finally Finish to complete the setup. Your BarWeb Hosted Exchange account should now be set up in Outlook 2010.

Set up BarWeb Mail in Outlook 2010
1. Click on Tools > Account Settings > Account Settings...
2. Click New to add an email address to Outlook. If you are checking your settings, double-click on your email address to open the configuration up and skip to Step 5.
3. Choose E-mail Account as the new service, and click Next. If you are prompted with an Auto Account Setup window, select Manually configure server settings or additional server types and select Next to continue.
4. On the Choose Service window, select Internet E-mail and click Next. 
5. Fill in your settings as per below:
User Information  
Your Name: Your full name
Email Address: Your full email address (e.g. a.barrister@qldbar.asn.au)
Server Information  
Account Type: POP3
Incoming mail server: mail.qldbar.asn.au
Outgoing mail server (SMTP): mail.qldbar.asn.au
Logon Information  
User Name: Your full email address (e.g. a.barrister@qldbar.asn.au)
Password:  
Remember password
    Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)
Click More Settings...to continue.
Outgoing Server tab
  My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication
  Use same settings as my incoming mail server
Advanced tab
Server Port Numbers
Incoming server (POP3): 110                                                                                
    This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)
Outgoing server (SMTP): 587                                                                                
Delivery
 Leave a copy of messages on the server
     Remove from server after 21 days
We suggest three weeks (21 days) for leaving mail on the server, however you can change it according to your needs.
6. Click OK then Next, and then Finish to complete the setup. Your BarWeb Mail account should now be set up in Outlook 2010.
 

Set up BarWeb Mail in Outlook 2007
1. Click on Tools > Account Settings...
2. Click New to add an email address to Outlook. If you are checking your settings, double-click on your email address to open the configuration up and skip to Step 5.
3. Choose E-mail Account as the new service, and click Next. If you are prompted with an Auto Account Setup window, select Manually configure server settings or additional server types and select Next to continue.
4. On the Choose Service window, select Internet E-mail and click Next.

Email Address: Your full email address (e.g. a.barrister@qldbar.asn.au)
Server Information  
Account Type: POP3

Set up BarWeb Mail in Mac Mail
1. Start Mail - If this is the first time using Mail, when Mail opens click Continue. Or, if Mail is already configured and you are just adding this account, go to File > Add Account
2. Enter the requested information using your Email address and provided Password. Click Continue
3. Indicate that your Account Type is POP and the incoming mail server is mail.qldbar.asn.au Click Continue.
4. The Outgoing mail server is mail.qldbar.asn.au Click Continue.
5. Check Use Authentication. Fill out the User Name with your email address and your provided Password.
6. Check the Account Summary screen to make sure the settings entered are correct, leave Take account online checked and click Create.
